Cyan Q&A

Q). How things with you?

I’m great! Balancing all of my creative commitments has been tricky lately though but I’m certain that the feeling of being overwhelmed will pass soon.

Q). Where did the whole Cyan journey all begin?

It officially began last year when I finished college, so coming up to a year now! Music has always been part of my life but once I decided to do a vocal artist course at college I had my mind made up about wanting to have a career in music.

Q). Your single ‘Play The Game’ is available now. How has the response for that been?

It’s been great! It was a surprise drop and I’ve never done that before so I had no idea what to expect. The reception has been so nice but this drop was more of just a thank you to everyone’s who’s been supporting me so far. I  didn’t want to go too long without releasing music.

Q). Whats it like being in the studio with Cyan?

It honestly depends on my mood and agenda for the session but normally it’s just pure good energy. I like to freestyle melodies a lot so that would be expected in a session with me for sure!

Q). How would you describe your sound?

Old school soul but with a modern feel. I describe my style as nostalgic and it doesn’t only emulate from my production but also my voice. If you hear me on a track it’s very obvious that it’s me.

Q). Is there anybody who you would love to do a track with?

There are loads but all of them I want to happen organically. At the top of my list right now would be Miraa May and Jayla Darden. Miraa Mays voice and pen game is unmatched and so is Jayla’s. I also love how they experiment within their sounds but no matter how far they steer production wise it still always feels like them.

Q). Who is your biggest influence?

My biggest influence right now is Jazmine Sullivan. She’s been someone that I’ve grown up listening to since I was six and to see her growth is amazing to me. I love people who have beautiful tones and sing with emotion and Jazmine is one of the best to do that.

Q). Why did you choose to get into the music industry?

For the love of it. It’s not something you can do if it’s not truly your passion. I love singing and making music and I’m also headstrong and determined so I genuinely believe I can reach any height in music that I put my mind to.

Q). What would you say is your biggest achievement in music so far?

My biggest achievement so far is something I haven’t revealed yet… but until then it for sure has to be doing a performance and Little Simz being in the audience.

Q). What can we expect from you for the rest of the year?

Consistency and great music. If anyone catches me slacking you have every right to get onto me!

Q). Do you have any social media for new fans to follow you?

Yess, I have all the social medias except Facebook. You can find me under the name ‘Cyanofficially’ but on Twitter it’s ‘Cyanofficially1’.
