Q). Hows things with you? 

I’m well thank you. I’ve been pushing myself creatively. I can’t complain!

 

Q). Where did the whole Dior Ashe journey all begin?

I’ve always been into the arts from a young age - writing, singing, painting and dance. Leading into my adolescence years I studied music, dance & drama in school. I absolutely loved it and still do! It was in 2017/2018 when I started creating and experimenting my own sound it & the rest is history!

 

Q). Your E.P ‘Chill Pill’ is available now. Tell us more about that? 

'Chill Pill' is all about carefree vibes. I started creating my debut EP in 2020. It was a testing process as I was dealing with loss and the pandemic but it was what pushed me through and kept me focused. I experimented with my sound, collaborated with different producers, artists and creatives to bring ‘Chill Pill’ into existence. 'Chill Pill' expresses realism in an uplifting way. My aim was to create an EP that puts my listeners in a state of joy, confidence & relaxation. 

 

Q). Whats it like being in the studio with Dior Ashe?

Studio with me is all fun & vibes. Some sessions are mellow and chill. Others are sassy & bold. A lot of creativity! I’m low-key a perfectionist so if something doesn’t sound right, it won’t be finish until it’s giving 20/10haha

 

Q). How would you describe your sound?

I’d describe my sound as warm & sultry with neo jazz undertone. 

 

Q). Is there anybody who you would love to do a track with? 

There’re so many people but to name 5 they would be Rozzzqween, BINA, Smino, Kojey Radical & Aby Coulibaly. 

 

Q). Who is your biggest influence? 

Life

 

Q). Why did you choose to get into the music industry? 

I started creating music as a positive outlet for myself & as a form of therapy. Then I thought that I’m not the only person who’s going through what I’m expressing in my music. So, one day I said why not put myself out there and whoever can relate and catch a vibe off my music is a great added bonus. 

 

Q). What would you say is your biggest achievement in music so far? 

I’m so grateful for every achievement big and small. Overall being an independent artist is a big achievement for me. Investing in my craft and seeing it pay off.  (Of course, with support along the way). My music video for ‘Gwarn Wid It’ is the recent highlight of my achievements. Also being played on BBC1 XTRA had me doing backflips

 

Q). What can we expect from you for the rest of the year?

Going into the New Year you can expect so much more music, more shows, more visuals, more collabs, merch, and getting to know more about me.
