Yesoul Q&A

Q). Hows things with you?
Hello, I’m Yesoul, a female rapper from HMD records. I released a compilation album with my label friends in the first half of the year, and I’m working on it with the beats of other producers in the second half of this year. I’m working on 6 songs at the same time, including featuring!
Q). Where did the whole Yesoul journey all begin?
Yes, around the time hip-hop first came to Korea, I started performing and recording in the underground club in earnest from 1998. Before that, when I was a student, I came across many music genres with the LP that my father used to listen to, and what captivated me at once was the black music genre.
Q). Your single ‘Counterpart’ with Memphis Reigns & Krohme is available now. Tell us more about that?
First of all, Memphis reigns has collaborated with our friends in HMD and has done a lot of work. I got to know him when I entered HMD, and I worked on this project at his recommendation. As soon as I heard Krohme’s beat, I really liked his music color and thought I could do well. Memphis and I spouted rap in our own native language and it seems to have been created as a wonderful song in harmony with the beat. Thank you once again for giving us a great musical opportunity!
Q). How would you describe your sound?
I hope that my sound is a sincere sound that comforts someone whenever and wherever they listen to my music. The part that I work on the most is the lyrics of the song, and I want the words in my song to quietly caress your hurt.
Q). Is there anybody who you would love to do a track with?
Whether it’s a famous musician or an unknown musician, I listen to their current music and work with them if I like it. Music is not famous, but I think good music is really good music, so I always take the form of open work.
Q). Who is your biggest influence?
Among many artists, I really like Fugees’ Lauryn Hill, and I was influenced by her early style.
Q). Why did you choose to get into the music industry?
It is my favorite music, and so I as a creation to someone listening to music can be meaningful if you thought it would.I want to tell you a lot of new styles in the future of music.
Q). What would you say is your biggest achievement in music so far?
As the first generation of Korean hip-hop, I am a female rapper who started underground hip-hop first. I am the only female rapper who has been doing hip-hop music for a long time like me in Korea.
Q). What can we expect from you for the rest of the year?
I think you can look forward to a variety of wonderful works with new and diverse artists at home and abroad.
Q). Do you have any social media for new fans to follow you?
I am currently only doing Instagram. The address is @yesoul__. Please come and leave comments!
