Esseo Q&A

Q). How things with you?

Very good right now, we busy we working promoting this album and going onwards and upwards with the music! A lot of things in works it’s promising

Q). Where did the whole Esseo journey all begin?

In Luton, in like 2004/05. I formed a group with some childhood friends called Vital Knights. We were just young aspiring grime artists with a nice network in our hometown. I went to a grime set one day with my older brother and his friends, where I spat one of my first 16’s to the mandem and that’s where it started!

Q). Your album ‘Retrograde Memoirs’ is available now. How has the response for that been?

Yo the response has been amazing. The feedback has been so good. This is my third independent LP I’ve put out, and the common theme is this one is the most permeable and enjoyable to differently tuned ears. I’ve had a lot of industry love and my names spread out a lot more from it. I’ve been gassed with this release

Q). Whats it like being in the studio with Esseo?

A big vibe! Haha. If you’re someone involved in the creative process with me you’ll feel like we’re in an alternate universe just blacking out. The dimension of inspiration. We’ll be turning up, vibing as it’s essential to my recording process but also very professional - I’m here to work, produce my best effort and do my best to give the song what it needs

Q). How would you describe your sound?

It’s difficult. My sound sits somewhere between Hip Hop and R&B, melodic and singy, as well as quote experimental. I’ve had comparisons drawn with PND, Travis Scott, Yxng Bane, Bryson Tiller those kind of guys. But it really is my own unique sound that only I can produce.

Q). Is there anybody who you would love to do a track with?

I would love to do music with PARTYNEXTDOOR, Jhene Aiko, Thugger etc. But closer to home I’d love to work with Skepta, RADA, Ling Hussle, KXYZ and so many more! I really support the UK girls and love their music too so I wanna work with a lot of them

Q). Who is your biggest influence?

Drake, Joe Budden, PARTYNEXTDOOR and Young Thug would be my biggest. Anyone who unconventionally spoke about emotions and girl problems was my bag growing up

Q). Why did you choose to get into the music industry?

I had so much family who were exploring being artists, it could be argued I would always naturally gravitate to music. I started doing industry stuff to find a balance as well as learn the industry from the greats and apply the knowledge to my own career.

Q). What would you say is your biggest achievement in music so far?

Hmm, I’ve been on national TV on MTV base and Channel AKA with my music video ‘We Just Entered’ at 16. Done ILUVLIVE twice, worked on campaigns for massive artists. Truth is I can’t pinpoint my biggest achievement so far as I think it’s still to come

Q). What can we expect from you for the rest of the year?

Music videos! Promoting this album! And new music! With the current buzz and momentum I’ve got I’m not going to let go do a whole load of new music and seeing my face in more places

Q). Do you have any social media for new fans to follow you?

Yes follow me on all socials @esseonwe, Twitter, Facebook, soundcloud and check out my YouTube channel ESSEO Official. Most importantly listen and check out my music I’ve got so much and vibes there for everyone! Love
